Marilena Capitanio Born in Italy and moved to the city of Bergamo after her childhood and teenage years,that were plenty of various types of art (dance , artistic gym etc.). In 1979 she realizes to have a passion for art and in Bergamo ,stimulated by the cultural vivacity of that environment ,decides to take musics lessons and attends “the theatre of Silence”, of the writer Giampaolo Guerini and collaborates for a short period of time with him and with the producer M. Lorandi to the transposition theatrical of the “Ulisse” of Joyce. After this experience, goes back to her original passion Modern Dance with the dancers Casiraghi in Milano.Pushed by her philantropic ideas,graduates as a nurse and is part of an international humanity foundation. In this moment of her life,she starts her pictoric life ,thanks to the availability of the maestro ,performs various technics: graphics,carbon, pastel color and oil. She moves to Termoli in 1984 and in 1986 participates in the first art collection organized by the town of Termoli. In that occasion Marilena presented a white indian ink graphic inspired by the great Gustave Dorè,famous for his illustrations of the Divine Comedy. She met the maestro Achille Pace,introduced to her by her friend Fredy Luciani,and was very much appreciated for her severe detailed manner and her artistic vein. Follows a long period for the research on volumes and forms with light-dark pastel. In 1984-86 ,opens two contemporary dance schools and produces two contemporary dance shows. At the end of the 80’s at her personal exhibition,meets the great artist architect Gaetano Cantone,which remains as a reference for geniality and artistic innovation. A poliedric artist that testyfies that art is not to be lived and understood as a one dimensional and individual experience, but in a complete form and embraced organically within the artistic knowledge. Meeting Cantone was fundamental. Thanks to him,in the 90’s,Marilena discovers figurative art,styling female figures with slender harmony by means of warm cromatism and brightness of wax pastel. Carries out many oil paintings .Delicate faces , absorbed in a silent ,enchanted state of soul,deeply suggestive. After this fevid period,feels the need to rappresent time and space. From this point , she took up again oil painting and dedicated to Michelangelo Merisi named “Il Caravaggio” a riproduction of the famous “San Girolamo”,acknowledging the need to analyze that historical period. During her trips in Italy and abroad ,visiting many museums and the life and works of yhe great artists of the past,carries out “the day and night”(polittico). The image shatters in a myriad of pieces,in mysterios places and profound introspection. An engaging work,that is exposed for the first time in Termoli in 1996 together with the maestro sculptor molisano Paquale Napoli. In 2000 ,during a moment of reflection of her life, she travels alone abroad to discover the beauty of greek-binzantine art. During this experience,she develops new challenging ideas that ,once back in her town, carries out. At present Marilena has personal and collectives plus a production of 200 works mantained in private collections in Italy and abroad. At present ,she is occupied in the local sanitory system at ASREM - URP as P.R. She continues with her research on light,volume and surfaces,dedicating mostly on tecniques of water colors in the reproduction of the masterpieces of Gregorio Sciltian. To him this work is dedicated.
